’ÄúDuring the current term, I’Äôm pleased to have worked on a range of campaign pledges from sponsorship and enactment of a hazardous waste management law in response to the Apex chemical plant explosion, to co-sponsorship and support for passage of the High Risk Insurance Pool. In addition, I helped convince the House Leadership to appoint a committee to study the practice of ’Äúinvoluntary’Äù annexation which as distressed homeowners and communities across our state.’Äù

’ÄúWorking on the Floor of the House, I successfully amended a Senate technical corrections bill (S540) to insure the annual $173 million raid on the Highway Trust Fund would not be covered up in the future. Now we need to fulfill the pledge in last year’Äôs budget and end this outdated transfer once and for all.’Äù
’ÄúIn a third term I will continue to work for reform in State Government. The State of North Carolina needs a focused set of goals, clear spending priorities in our budget, and tax relief for North Carolina’Äôs families, seniors and small businesses.’Äù
