Representative Nelson Dollar • N.C. House District 36

Dear Friends,

It’s an honor to serve the citizens of the 36th District and to represent your interests by making jobs and education our State’s top priorities.  Over the last four years we have lowered taxes, simplified business regulations, and passed legislation to get our economy moving.  Our efforts have lowered unemployment and created over 200,000 new jobs
As Senior Chair of the House Appropriations Committee I have passed balanced budgets, lowered our State’s debt, insured our “AAA” bond rating, and made investments to spur economic growth.
Our most important investment has been to increase public school funding by one billion dollars including the largest teacher pay raise in a decade, an average 7% increase.   We are also investing in high tech worker training by funding the “Closing The Skills Gap” program in our community colleges.
We are making progress, I‘m proud to report that North Carolina's 2014 graduation rate of 83.8 percent is the highest recorded in the state's history.
Based on my work in the General Assembly, I was named the 2013 Outstanding Legislator by AARP.  I have the endorsement of the State Employees Association and the Police Benevolent Association.  The nonpartisan NC Center for Public Policy Research ranked me the 6th most effective legislator.
I will continue to focus on investing in our education system insuring our students are ready to compete in the global economy and working to attract more high quality jobs to our area.  With your support, I will continue to seek solutions that bring people together and move North Carolina forward.
Please know I will appreciate your vote on November 4th.

Very Truly Yours,
